Four men have been charged following a brawl in Sydney's inner suburb of Newtown in which poles, bottles and fluorescent light tubes were allegedly used as weapons.

Police say that on Thursday evening officers were called to the brawl at a service station on Enmore Road to find two men, aged 36 and 37, with minor injuries.

Both men were released from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital early on Friday and promptly arrested.

They were each charged with affray and the younger man was also charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Both were granted strict conditional bail and are expected to appear at Newtown Local Court next month.

Two other men, aged 21 and 23, were arrested at the scene and have been charged with a variety of offences including affray.

They have both been refused bail and will face Newtown Local Court on Friday.
