Four arrested over Sydney crime spree

A NSW police swat team has been used to arrest three women and a man allegedly involved in a spate of robberies and a drive-by shooting in Sydney.

The quartet was arrested at a house in Beverly Hills, in Sydney's south, on Tuesday over seven armed robberies across Sydney in June and August.

Detective Inspector Adam Barwick said it's believed between three and four people were involved in the robberies in Mortdale, Fairfield, Hurstville, Rockdale and Sydney's CBD.

After robbing a hotel in Kingsgrove in Sydney's west in August, police say one of the group fired shots at a chicken shop before escaping and later setting fire to their 2008 Audi station wagon.

Police will allege the same vehicle was used during the series of armed robberies.

The group is also being investigated over an alleged carjacking in October and a kidnapping earlier this month.

The four have been taken to Kogarah Police Station and have yet to be charged.
