Former NSW premier Mike Baird joins NAB

Former NSW premier Mike Baird is joining National Australia Bank as chief customer officer for the lender's corporate and institutional banking unit.

Mr Baird retired unexpectedly from politics in January to spend more time with his family.

NAB's statement to the Australian Securities Exchange says Mr Baird, who previously worked for the bank, will take up his new job in April.

Mr Baird's successor Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she was "really happy" to hear about the announcement.

"I wish him well into the future," she told reporters in Sydney on Tuesday.
