Flood watch issued for NSW mid-north coast

Heavy rainfall across the NSW coast has caused flooding and road closures, with more rain predicted in coming days.

Multiple roads have been shut down by floods at Bega on the state's south coast, where the Bureau of Meteorology predicts more rainfall on Tuesday.

The river at Bega North was expected to hit 5.1 metres with minor flooding on Monday night, while further north the Moruya River peaked below the minor flood level at 3.7 metres about 6.30pm.

Overall, the BoM has forecast easing conditions for the south coast, but the mid-north coast is expected to be hit with heavier rainfall on Tuesday.

A flood watch has been issued for areas between Newcastle and Port Macquarie, including the Newcastle CBD.
