Limited flights home from Bali amid ash cloud dramas

More than a thousand stranded travellers have managed to head home from Bali over the weekend after Jetstar operated a limited flight schedule.
The airline said 1500 customers were flown back from Denpasar on scheduled flights on Sunday.
A modified schedule is due to operate again on Monday "to give ourselves the best chance of getting flights out of Bali in daylight hours", Jetstar said in a statement.
Meanwhile, passengers travelling with rival Virgin Australia have been stuck in Bali for the past two days.
The airline cancelled all its flights on the weekend based on advice from its team of meteorologists, senior pilots and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre, which deemed flying conditions unfavourable.
Virgin Australia said it would make a decision about Monday flights following an assessment in the morning.
Both airlines are offering credits or flight exchanges to customers unable to travel to Bali.
Planes have been grounded or forced to turn back mid-air for more than a week as a volcanic ash cloud continues to hover around Denpasar Airport.
