A body has been found after a fisherman was swept from rocks in Sydney's south.

It's believed the man in his 50s was not wearing a life jacket when he entered water at Cape Solander, Kurnell, on Sunday.

An extensive rescue operation was launched after police were called after 1pm and a body was found about 4.30pm, police say.
