Truck drivers dead in fiery crash on NSW Mid North Coast

Two truck drivers have died when their vehicles collided in a fiery early morning crash on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.

Just one northbound lane of the Pacific Highway near Port Macquarie is open and a contraflow in place, with delays being felt for those in the area.

Police say the crash happened at around 3.30am around one kilometre south of the Oxley Highway off-ramp at Thrumster.

The trucks are believed to have crashed, causing both to erupt into flames.

Both drivers died at the scene.

Fire crews were called to the crash site to douse the flames, which had spread to nearby bush.

One northbound lane on the Pacific Highway is closed and the contraflow is expected to be in place for some time.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

An investigation into the crash is now underway.
