Family hits out at nursing home company

The family of aged-care residents killed in the 2011 Quakers Hill Nursing Home fire have hit out at the company which ran the facility.

NSW Deputy State Coroner Hugh Dillon on Monday handed down the findings from the inquest into one of the worst fires in the state's history.

The facility's former registered nurse Roger Dean, 38, is serving life in prison for the murder of 11 people who died in the blaze.

"I don't know what to think but at the end of the day I am just disappointed with what I heard," Donna Austin, whose mother Alma Smith died, said after the findings were handed down.

"They (the operators) were not in this court room today to say `we are sorry'," one of the victim's friends, Linda Morrow, said.

"This is not over."
