Fake video of man surfing in front of Sydney Opera House resurfaces after storms
The storms battering parts of NSW have allowed pranksters a second shot at online glory with a de-bunked video of a surfer catching waves in front of Sydney's Opera House once again doing the rounds on social media.
This morning a Vine of the fake video was posted on Twitter by popular Sydney radio duo Fitzy and Wippa and a short time ago an image from the video was Tweeted by Australian website The New Daily.
A short time later a number of Twitter users pointed out that the video, which shows a surfer riding waves in Sydney Harbour with the Opera House in the background, is a fake from 2012.
The video titled 'BENNELONG POINT – Surfing Sydney Opera House' was posted online on June 6, 2012, following strong storms.
At the time ninemsn reported on the video as a fake but it was covered by a number of news outlets.
With the Fitzy and Wippa boasting just under 30,000 Twitter followers don't be surprised if you come across the video in your daily online wanderings.
