The brother of Sydney nightclub identity John Ibrahim has walked free after spending more than a week behind bars.

Fadi Ibrahim was among four men extradited from Dubai nearly two weeks ago over their alleged roles in an international drug and tobacco-smuggling conspiracy.

It was thought the 43-year-old would be freed last week but he struggled to come up with the $2.2 million surety required to secure his release.

His bail was paid on Wednesday and he was collected from Silverwater Correctional Centre in Sydney's west about 6.45pm.

Under his bail conditions, he has to live under effective house arrest in his Dover Heights mansion.

It is not alleged Ibrahim was involved with the drug transactions but he is accused of stumping up $800,000 to fund a tobacco importation deal.
