Eleven arrests after Newcastle party brawl

Eleven people have been arrested and two rushed to hospital following a brawl at a party in Newcastle overnight.
Police were called to a residence in Charlestown just after 9pm on Friday to find about 300 people gathered, most of them teenagers and some who threw bottles and cans at officers.
Backup was requested, with 26 police cars attending and the Pacific Highway closed southbound while officers tried to control the situation.

Police arrested 11 people, one for assaulting officers, while two girls were taken to John Hunter Hospital for suspected drug overdoses.
Further charges are expected to be laid.
