EDUCATION INVESTMENTS IN THE NSW BUDGET

* $4.2 billion over four years ($1.6 billion extra) to build or upgrade at least 120 schools and tackle surging enrolments.

* 32,000 more student places.

* About 1000 extra teachers.

* A $100 per student rebate from January for recreational sport fees.

* $747 million over four years for the school maintenance backlog ($411 from 2017/18).

* $50 million in 2017/18 for student counselling and wellbeing.

* $1.2 billion for non-government schools.

* $2.2 billion for TAFE NSW and other training providers.
