A man has been charged with drink driving after six people were hurt in a multi-vehicle crash in Sydney's south.

Police believe two cars were travelling the same way on Sandringham Street in Sans Souci when they collided just before midnight on Friday.

One of the two, a Volkswagen Golf, then hit two other vehicles and a power pole.

All of the vehicles were significantly damaged and needed to be towed from the scene, police say.

Emergency services treated six people for minor injuries.

The 30-year-old Volkswagen driver returned a positive roadside breath test result and was arrested.

He then allegedly recorded a mid-range PCA reading of 0.117 at St George police station.

The man's licence was suspended and he's due to face Sutherland Local Court over a drink driving charge on January 29.
