Demolition at Rozelle blast site to begin tomorrow

Authorities will begin demolishing a Rozelle building at risk of collapse tomorrow, a week after a nearby convenience store explosion killed three people.

NSW police have said 625 Darling St, Rozelle will be pulled down tomorrow.

Those living at the property have lost everything, surviving on donations for the past week and unable to save any belongings before tomorrow’s demolition.

An exclusion zone remains in place around the blast site, with police working to improve safety in the street.

Residents have been unable to access their homes and Darling Street businesses have remained closed since the explosion.

Bianka O’Brien, 31, baby son Jude and 27-year-old Chris Noble were killed in the explosion.

Yesterday it emerged police were focusing on a jerry can found in a car nearby, with investigators believing the initial fire to have been deliberately lit.

Three people are suspected to be behind the incident.

The owner of the destroyed store, Adeel Khan, has been in hospital since the blast and was visited by detectives over the weekend.
