Decade-long disappearance still a mystery

Friends and family of a NSW woman who vanished more than a decade ago are desperate for information, with police conceding it's likely she has been murdered.

Michelle Mills hasn't been since August 2000.

Her father reported the then 39-year-old missing from her Mudgee home in the state's central west.

Detectives now believe she met with foul play and have issued a fresh appeal for information.

Friends say Ms Mills was going through a difficult time following the breakdown of a number of relationships.

But police say most people thought it highly unlikely she would have taken her life.

Ms Mills' bank account was accessed for six months after she went missing with the person involved in her disappearance the suspect.

The account was accessed in three locations - Mudgee, Cowra and Blayney.

Just 140cm tall, Ms Mills was of Caucasian appearance with green eyes and fair hair.

Unsolved Homicide Team detective Jason Darcy on Friday urged those with information to come forward.

"She's been missing for well over a decade and yet her poor family and friends still have no idea where she is or what happened to her," he said.

A $10,000 reward is attached to the case.
