Daylight saving ends in eastern states

People in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT got a little extra sleep overnight as clocks were turned back one hour, marking the end of daylight saving.

The states return to the same time zone as Queensland after timekeepers made the switch at 2am on Sunday.

It means they are now two hours ahead of Perth and half an hour in front of the Northern Territory.

Daylight savings resumes in spring on October 1.
