A Sydney father who left his two-year-old son in a car while he went for a job interview has escaped a conviction.

Instead he was placed on a one-year good behaviour bond.

Concerned members of the public called police on July 15 when they noticed the boy alone inside a vehicle at a public car park in Bella Vista, in Sydney's northwest.

Police said the boy's 35-year-old father had left his son there in order to go for a job interview.

After the boy was rescued and the father returned to the car, he was arrested and charged with leaving a young person in a motor vehicle and causing emotional distress.

The father pleaded guilty when he appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.

No conviction was recorded against him and he was placed on a good behaviour bond for 12 months.
