Cyclist in coma after fall in NSW

A cyclist has been flown to a Sydney hospital in an induced coma after falling from his bike at high speed.

Careflight flew the man from near Lithgow, west of Sydney, where he had been travelling with a group of riders on Monday morning.

A wheel of the man's bike had become trapped in a gap on a bridge at South Bowenfels, causing him to fall and hit his head.

A doctor on the scene placed the man in an induced coma, and he has been flown to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
