A NSW university has become the first carbon-neutral university in Australia.

Charles Sturt University in Bathurst attained the standard, awarded to only 27 organisations nationally, after reducing its net greenhouse gas emissions to zero across its nine campuses in regional NSW and Victoria.

The university has aggressively reduced its emissions over the past few years through energy saving programs and achieved the net-zero goal with the purchase of carbon offset credits.
