Two cricket brawlers arrested

Two cricket fans have been arrested following a brawl at a western Sydney RSL club during the telecast of the India-Pakistan World Cup match.

Police expect to charge the two men, aged 18 and 20, with riot and affray shortly following the ugly scenes at the Merrylands RSL club on Sunday night.

The brawl left four people in hospital with cuts and bruises.

The pair have since been released.

Video footage captured by a bystander shows chairs and tables being hurled.

Police are investigating how the brawl started but it appears to be an isolated incident and not alcohol-fuelled.

"Our investigation will look at all the footage that's available," Inspector Tamara Kirby said.

The match was the first between the two countries in almost a year with India winning by 76 runs.

Further arrests are expected.
