Couple wanted over Sydney car theft

A man and a woman are wanted over an attempted Sydney break-in and a dramatic car theft where the owner hurled himself on the bonnet to stop the thief driving away.

The 35-year-old man's keys and car were stolen at a leisure centre in Cabravale on March 17.

When he returned to his Cabramatta house, he spotted the thief getting into his car while it was parked in the car port.

He jumped on the bonnet to try and stop the thief, suffering minor injuries as the car drove off.

The man's house had not been broken into, police said.

CCTV images of a man and a woman police want to speak to have been released.
