A council worker in western Sydney has allegedly been bashed and had his leaf blower stolen by a man who then used it to damage a street sweeping truck.

The 45-year-old man shone a laser pointer into the face of a male council worker who was using the street sweeper in Granville early on Saturday morning, before he allegedly bashed the man's colleague in the head.

The man has been charged with robbery and malicious damage, and will appear in Parramatta Local Court next month.
