Convicted man charged over NSW baby murder

A man has been charged over the death of a seven-week-old girl at a western Sydney home last year.

Paramedics were called to the Regents Park residence in the early hours of August 12 where they found the baby unconscious, police say.

She was rushed to Westmead Children's Hospital but died shortly after.

Following a "lengthy investigation", detectives arrested a 26-year-old man at a correctional facility in Bathurst.

He was charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court on Sunday.
