As the festive season gets under way and shoppers "make a list and check it twice", there are some dodgy products, including inflatable frogs, nasal sprays and drones, to cross off.

Consumer advocacy group Choice has compiled a list of its "12 recalls of Christmas".

A nasal spray that may contain potentially fatal Golden Staph has made the list, as have several products that were recalled during the year because of potential fire risks.

Samsung's "fiery" Galaxy Note 7 smartphone is on the list, as is a Zoggs Swim Jacket that doesn't meet Australian safety standards and a Swarovski Crystal Pendant Light that loses its crystals.

Choice says people should check recent purchases for product recall, with a 12 per cent jump in recalls this year.

On average only half the items recalled in Australia are returned, Choice said.

THE 12 RECALLS OF CHRISTMAS:

1. Ozsale kids' nightwear - does not have fire-hazard warnings.

2. Swarovski Crystal Pendant Light - the crystals can detach

3. Flashing Duck with LED light - button and battery can be dislodged

4. Kogan's 3DR Solo Smart Drone Quadcopter - some parts aren't certified to Aussie standards
