Car plunges through chemist shopfront in Sydney overnight, causing extensive damage

A chemist in Sydney's inner suburbs is facing a massive damage bill after a car slammed through the shopfront overnight.

It is unclear how the incident occurred, however police are investigating whether the driver fell asleep at the wheel, when the car plunged through the front of Chemist Warehouse on Cleveland Street in Surry Hills about 2.30am.

Photos from the scene showed shattered windows and the car wedged inside the shop.

Police are investigating.
