Car's tyres catch fire while performing stunt at Sydney burnout meet

A car's tyres have caught on fire after a burnout session at a car enthusiast festival in Sydney.

The driver was performing burnouts at the Brasher Nats event on Sunday at Western Sydney International Dragway.

Video shows the car repeatedly rotate as its exhaust forms a thick, blinding cloud of heavy grey smoke.

High-visibility wearing staff, clutching fire extinguishers, struggle to see the vehicle as it jerks towards them.

At one point, the car is entirely cloaked in heavy smoke, the sound of its revving engine the only telling factor it’s still running.

During the burnout the car managed to shed both rear tyres from their rims, creating a fiery scene for spectators.

The car continues spinning past until support staff rush towards it to extinguish the flames.

As the car comes to a stop its driver leaps out of his front seat and onto the car’s hood to bask in glory.
