Five people have minor injuries after a car crashed into a church in Sydney's north-west this morning.

The white Hyundai crashed through the front doors of Our Lady of Lourdes church at Baulkham Hills just before 11am, police said.

A service had ended and many of the 350 attendees had just left.

Seventy-eight-year-old parishioner and church volunteer Rose was behind the wheel, and the cause of the crash is not yet known.

Father Wim Hoekstra said he was concerned about the crash.

"I'm very distressed, distressed for the people who are involved," he said.

He said Rose was also shocked.

"She is in a real state of shock and that is something that sort of worries me," he said.

Churchgoer Dan Hu witnessed the crash.

"There was a loud bang and I thought it was like an earthquake but then I turned around and it was car," he said.

"There was a lot of screaming, running."
