Two men have been arrested and a third is on the run after a police pursuit reaching speeds of 180km/h through central Sydney.

The pursuit began after a Mitsubishi Magna with Victorian number plates was clocked travelling more than 100km/h over the speed limit through Woolloomooloo in the early hours of Thursday.

Police terminated the chase due to safety concerns, but later arrested two of the three men when they crashed at the on-ramp to the Warringah Expressway in Neutral Bay.

The trio initially fled the smash, but officers arrested one man when he was injured jumping a wall.

The second was arrested shortly after, while the third man escaped.
