Body with throat slit in park identified

The body of a man who was found with a cut throat in an inner Sydney park has been identified as 39-year-old Jacky Ho.

Mr Ho's body was found underneath a tree in Glebe's Wentworth Park on Saturday afternoon by a member of the public.

Police are unsure how long the body had been in park before it was discovered.

Forensics officers spent Saturday night scouring the park for evidence.

A post-mortem examination on Monday revealed Mr Ho, who was last seen around 1.30am on Saturday, died as a result of physical trauma including a cut throat.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The Asian man, who is described as being about 165cm tall, of solid/chubby build, with short dark hair, lived in the Sydney CBD, police said on Tuesday.

Locals residents told AAP they have often seen people hanging around the sweeping figtree at night and suggest a possible link to drugs.

"We're keeping an open mind of what led to the death of this male person," Detective Inspector Gavin Beck said on Sunday.
