Bell free from lingering AVO threat

Champion sailor Anthony Bell is enjoying his first day without a potential apprehended violence order hanging over his head after a Sydney magistrate decided the measure wasn't appropriate.

Bell was on Thursday found to have intimidated his wife Kelly Landry after Downing Centre Local Court heard details of their arguments and a "disturbing" recording of one incident where the yatchsman wrestled her for a phone as she held a child.

But Magistrate Robert Williams said there was little or no opportunity for further incidents after the pair separated.

He decided an AVO was not appropriate.

"I'm very much looking forward to getting on with my life, my kids' life and my family's life," Bell said outside court.

Bell had repeatedly denied allegations he physically abused Landry in February 2012 and November 2016 before continuing to intimidate and harass her.
