Attend Anzac day commemorations, Baird

NSW Premier Mike Baird says Sydney residents planning to attend Anzac Day events should not be discouraged by the news of a 16-year-old boy's arrest on a terror offence.

The boy was arrested at his western Sydney home last night and charged with preparing or planning a terrorist attack.

"My strong encouragement is if you are intending to go (to an Anzac service), go," Mr Baird told reporters immediately after he left the dawn service at Martin Place.

He thanked police for their efforts in protecting the public.

"I want to thank them for their on going work in keeping us safe and clearly they are doing a first class job," he said.
