A man who smashed a woman in the face with a cricket bat in Sydney's Martin Place more than ten years ago has been charged over the assault.
The woman suffered serious facial fractures and required plastic surgery after being attacked on January 14, 2006, as she left a work function in the centre of Sydney.
She was part of a group approached by three men in Martin Place just before 10pm, and during an altercation was hit with the bat as she ran away.
