Alleged money scammer charged in Qld

A man allegedly playing a money swap trick at banks and other businesses across Queensland has been arrested and charged with stealing.

Police allege he's been asking to exchange $100 notes for $50 notes then asking for a different denomination or somehow confusing or distracting the staff member before removing some of the $100 and all the $50 notes and leaving.

Police arrested a 50-year-old Romanian national north of Mareeba on Thursday and have charged him with 12 counts of stealing or attempted stealing to appear at Mareeba Magistrates Court on Friday.
