Alleged IS member previously a bouncer

Mohammad Baryalei has been many things in his life.

A TV actor, a Kings Cross bouncer and now a reported senior member of Islamic State who is accused of conspiring to commit a terrorist act in Australia.

The 33-year-old jihadist is an Afghan regugee who settled in Sydney.

Baryalei is reported to have a trusted position in Islamic State (IS) operational command.

He has been identified in reports as being responsible for recruiting at least half of the 60 Australians currently fighting in foreign conflicts with IS.

The former hired muscle outside nightclubs on the Golden Mile allegedly conspired with Sydney man Omarjan Azari to execute random members of the public in Australia.

Azari, 22, was arrested in pre-dawn counter-terrorism raids.

Besides being a bouncer, Baryalei also had a small role in the Nine Network's Underbelly series, appearing as a paramedic.

An arrest warrant was issued last week for Baryalei for alleged terrorist activities.

However, his parents have told the ABC their son is living peacefully in Turkey.
