Truck head-on crash kills two in NSW

Two people are dead after a pair of trucks crashed head-on and caught alight in the NSW northern tablelands.

The people, believed to be the drivers of the trucks, were found dead at the scene at Thunderbolts Way, Rocky River about 20km from Uralla around 1.45pm on Tuesday.

Police say they are yet to be formally identified and their ages aren't known.

The road is expected to be closed for hours while investigators examine the scene.

Also on Tuesday a 90-year-old man died after he was struck by a van as he crossed Ritchie Street in the western Sydney suburb of Rosehill.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital after the collision at 6.30am but died a short time later.

The 52-year-old male van driver was taken to the same hospital for mandatory blood and urine samples.
