NSW sends 140 firefighters to SA

More than 100 NSW firefighters have been sent to South Australia to help them battle blazes.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Michael Gallacher said on Friday that four Strike Teams comprising of 20 appliances and approximately 140 firefighters will be deployed to work day and night shifts in the southern state.

Twenty-five incident management team personnel, including fire behaviour analysts, will also leave Sydney over the next few days bound for South Australia.

"NSW was fortunate to receive assistance from right across Australia during the October 2013 bush fires in the Blue Mountains and now it is our turn to help out those in need," he said in a statement.

A spokeswoman for Mr Gallacher said that NSW will also respond if Victoria or the ACT ask for help.
