NSW and Queensland fires: 'Fires Near Me' RFS app tops charts ahead of day of catastrophic danger
As Sydney and surrounding areas prepare for a day of 'Catastrophic' fire danger the message appears to be getting through as the NSW Rural Fire Service app "Fires Near Me" rocketed to the top of the download charts for both Android and Apple smartphones.
As of Monday night, the app topped the charts for Free app downloads in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
The RFS app allows users to see active fires across the state of NSW, as well as prepare for any fire concerns in their own area.

Using the Fires Near Me app, you can see all the fires in one view, categorised by their severity.
Additionally, users can set up alerts for their home or other addresses.
Adding the address of your own home, as well as any family members' - you can add up to 10 addresses - allows you to get smart notifications on your device of any fire that may threaten that address.
