Investigation opens after man dies during police operation

An investigation has been launched today after a man died following a police operation in Bathurst in central New South Wales overnight.
The man was found dead earlier today inside a home at Howick Street.
About 4.20pm yesterday emergency services were called to the home and attempted to speak to the man.

When the man refused to leave the premises, police set up a perimeter and attempted to negotiate with him.
His body was discovered inside the property at about 4am.
A crime scene has been set up and a police critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
That investigation will be subject to an independent review.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
