Man found with multiple stab wounds in western Sydney stairwell
Police are appealing for public help after a man was found with at least nine stab wounds to his upper body in Sydney's west.
Emergency services were called to Victoria Street in Werrington shortly after 4am in response to reports a man had been found injured inside the stairwell of a unit block.
The man, believed to be aged 29, was allegedly stabbed nine times across his neck, chest and stomach in the stairwell of the unit.

9News understands the 29-year-old had been drinking with friends to celebrate his birthday when at 4am he got into an argument with some visitors that led to the altercation.
His friends rushed to help him, using a jacket to put pressure on the wounds before calling triple zero.
The man was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition and is undergoing surgery.
Police have begun inquiries but have not yet been able to take a formal statement from the injured man.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation is underway.

Neighbours have been left shocked by the incident happening in the stairwell of the unit.
"It's just shocking I had no idea and I'm just out of words to what happened," a neighbour said.
NSW Police Inspector Natalie Gilbody said it would have been a very confronting scene for emergency services.
"I think the scene was probably quite graphic and quite confronting for the police and emergency services who were there," she said.
Gildbody urged any witnesses to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
