Man arrested after being spotted with 'AK-47' that turned out to be a bong
Chaos broke out in western Sydney yesterday after a man was seen wandering the streets with what appeared to be an AK-47 assault rifle, but police would soon discover the real nature of the "weapon".
Multiple people phoned triple zero after spotting the man who appeared armed.
Police flocked to Windsor Road in Rouse Hill around 5.30pm in response.

Officers found the imitation weapon inside an empty and unlocked car that had been left in a church carpark. NSW Police
However, they would soon find the "gun" was a bong, shaped like a rifle.
Helicopters were used in an effort to track down the man, while officers pored over CCTV from surrounding businesses.
The footage led police to an empty unlocked vehicle in a nearby church carpark.
Inside the car, officers allegedly found the imitation AK-47 assault rifle.

The concerning sight prompted multiple triple zero calls and a large police callout. NSW Police
The helicopter search found the man, 50, in nearby grassland.
"He was arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm and intimidation," police said.
"The 50-year-old man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today."
