NSW murder accused ordered back to Aust

An accused murderer has been extradited to Australia from Malaysia, eight years after he allegedly stabbed Deng Chi Li to death in southern NSW.

The 51-year-old victim's body was found at the back of a business in Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga, with multiple stab wounds on September 13, 2006.

He was a shopkeeper who owned most of Wagga eatery Noodle Paradise, Fairfax Media reported at the time.

After years of investigation by NSW police attached to Strike Force Nuggetty, an extradition request was lodged with Malaysian authorities in March.

There, officers arrested a 28-year-old man, who was flown back to Sydney under police guard on Saturday.

The man has been charged with murder, malicious wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, aggravated robbery with wounding, robbery armed with an offensive weapon, robbery, stealing and malicious wounding.

He will spend the night behind bars before facing Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
