NSW man charged with drink driving twice

A man has been charged after getting back behind the wheel less than two hours after being nabbed for high-range drink driving in the NSW Hunter region, police say.

The 41-year-old was stopped by police for a roadside breath test in Argenton around 11pm (AEDT) on Saturday.

He was taken to Toronto Police Station, where a breath analysis returned a reading of 0.175, police say.

Officers suspended the man's driver's licence and he was charged with high range drink driving, before being driven home to Cardiff.

Around 1am (AEDT) on Sunday, police spotted the same man riding a push bike to his vehicle in Argenton.

Police say the man got into the car and drove a short distance before being stopped by police.

He was again breath-tested, arrested and taken to to Toronto Police Station, where his breath analysis returned a reading of 0.161, police say.

Officers charged the man with high range drink driving and driving while suspended.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Toronto Local Court on April 16.
