A man will appear in court next month charged with assaulting hospital staff and police in Bourke.

Ambulance Paramedics took the 28-year-old man to the Bourke District Hospital at about 3.15am on Thursday where it's alleged he became physically and verbally abusive towards nursing staff.

One male nurse was allegedly punched in the chest and poked in the eye.

Staff ejected the man from the hospital, but he allegedly regained entry by smashing a glass sliding door and removing the handle of another door.

It's alleged when police arrived, the man resisted arrest.

The man has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, stalk/intimidate intend fear, physical harm, resist officer in execution of duty, destroy or damage property and common assault.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Bourke Local Court on April 10.
