NSW man allegedly six times over the limit

A man allegedly driving while six times over the legal blood alcohol limit has been charged on the NSW north coast.

Police allege the 46-year-old was driving through a car park at Toormina, about eight kilometres south of Coffs Harbour on Sunday evening when he failed to negotiate a bend and mounted the kerb, before hitting a light pole.

He was helped, uninjured, by a witness and police were called.

He was arrested after a roadside breath test allegedly returned a positive result and then taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station, where it's further alleged he returned a reading of 0.324.

He's been charged with high range PCA and granted conditional bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on June 2.
