NRL player Anthony Milford faces court on multiple assault charges

NRL player Anthony Milford has appeared in court, facing multiple assault charges for the first time this morning. 

The 27-year-old father is accused of assaulting multiple women. 

The incident in question relates to a night out in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, where detectives claim Milford was in an argument with his wife, Miri, before two women and one man intervened.

The three witnesses allege they were assaulted by the star player.

Milford's lawyer Dave Garrett said charges would be defended in court.

"On the current charges before the court, on the evidence I've seen, we will definitely be defending some of the charges, yes," Mr Garrett said. 

The player has been dumped by the Broncos but will play next season with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

No plea was heard this morning, with the case postponed till next month.
