One gambling man turned a $100 bet into a massive $262,000 win when he picked incredibly unlikely odds on two NRL games at the weekend.

The unknown lucky striker's precise two-leg multi bet was placed with one of the many online betting agencies whose ads you've seen flooding your favourite sports broadcasts.

The unlikely win came because the punter picked the winning margins on two games: the North Queensland Cowboys vs Wests Tigers and Canterbury Bulldogs vs Canberra Raiders.

The big payout came because the Dogs won by seven points which made the odds balloon to $2625/1, with the margin only sealed in the last minute of the game.

"This will go down as one of the greatest bets of all time," the betting agency's Christian Jantzen told news.com.au.

"The odds on offer for the two legs were $2,625/1 and the Bulldogs actually scored seven points in the final minute of their match to get the job done."

The Cowboys also came good on the gambling man's call of an eight-point margin, beating the Tigers 8-0.
