'Nothing more to add' on Clover: Taylor

Energy Minister Angus Taylor is still refusing to explain how he came to use a doctored document to attack the Sydney lord mayor.

Mr Taylor is expected to face further scrutiny in federal parliament next week over a letter he sent to Clover Moore, which contained vastly overblown figures on her council's travel spending.

"I've dealt with the issue and I've really got nothing more to add," he told ABC radio on Friday, when asked where the false figures came from.

Mr Taylor used the incorrect figures as the basis for a scathing article in the Daily Telegraph criticising Ms Moore's environmental credibility.

Labor has referred the issue to NSW police and has accused him of forging a document.

The document Mr Taylor relied on claimed councillors had spent $1.7 million on international travel and $14.2 million on domestic travel over the past financial year.

But the 2017/18 council report currently available online, as well as previously cached versions, shows international out-of-pocket travel costs such as meals and taxis were only $1728, and domestic costs were $4206.

The Department of Environment and Energy had originally drafted the letter for Mr Taylor - which he was sending to Ms Moore to flex the coalition's climate credentials.

The department's version doesn't mention the council's travel spending, but does outline the government's electric vehicle strategy.

Mr Taylor was highly critical of Labor's electric vehicle policy during the election campaign, and his government's own strategy was taken out of the letter to Ms Moore.

The false travel spend was added by the minister's office before being sent off.

Mr Taylor has admitted the figures were false and has apologised to Ms Moore, but has not explained where the numbers came from.
