North Shore assault: Tutor allegedly drugged and indecently assaulted female student

A male tutor has been charged with allegedly drugging and assaulting a teenage student on Sydney’s North Shore over the weekend.

On Sunday October 28, an 18-year-old woman attended a tutoring academy on Neridah Street in Chatswood.

There, it is alleged her 34-year-old tutor gave her prescription drugs and indecently assaulted her.

Following the incident, detectives from the North Shore Police Area Command were contacted and commenced an investigation.

A crime scene warrant was executed at the academy in Chatswood as well as a unit on Albert Street, also in Chatswood.

Following the investigation, the 34-year-old presented himself to police at Hornsby Police Station before 6am yesterday.

The tutor, who is understood to have taught for many years, was charged with two counts of cause to take intoxicating substance to commit indictable offence, and assault with act of indecency.

He was refused bail and will appear at Hornsby Local Court today.
