Powered by

A teenager is expected to be charged after flames tore through an apparent squatters den near Geelong.

Authorities were called to the home in the Geelong suburb of Norlane around 10pm and found the property was already fully alight.

Multiple witnesses who called Triple Zero told of how they heard the windows exploding.

No one was home when the fire broke out and nobody was injured.

Less than 12 hours after the fire, police have arrested an 18-year-old man. Authorities said he's an associate of those known to stay at the property, but do not believe the fire was an attack meant to injure.

He's expected to be charged in the Geelong Magistrate's court this afternoon.

Dozens of nearby residents were forced out onto the street as a precaution as the flames lit up the sky.

Norlane is approximately 7km from Geelong's CBD and 70km from Melbourne.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
