No imminent Sydney airport decision: PM

There are no imminent plans to finalise the location of Sydney's second airport, Prime Minister Tony Abbott says.

Mr Abbott has rejected a media report that the government is just days away from announcing Badgerys Creek in Sydney's west will be home to the new facility.

"A decision must be made and it will be made by this government early in our first term but I do have to warn you that it's not imminent," Mr Abbott told reporters.

He specifically cautioned against accepting any timeframes in media reports.

"We will make a decision because that's what the public expect."

A News Corp Australia report said cabinet is set to sign off on the Badgerys Creek project and more than $200 million worth of transport links next week.
